University of Idaho is a chapter of Global Water Brigades, an international movement of university students working alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world. Water systems are designed, planned, and budgeted with partner communities and local leaders are identified by the community to serve as the community’s Water Council, which collects monthly water fees from households to operate and maintain the constructed water system. It then takes several months of construction by volunteers, staff and community members to complete and can include several large scale components, such as dams and storage tanks in order to pipe clean water to individual homes. nnIn conjunction with our Water Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Environmental Brigades at Washington University in St. Louis is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world\'s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The WUSTL chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. Environmental Brigades are 8-day experiences abroad that include hands-on work alongside community members to promote environmentally sustainable development. Environmental Brigades operate in Panama with a specific emphasis on reforestation, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and environmental education.

Elon University is a chapter of Global Public Health Brigades, an international movement of university students working to improve health conditions in the developing world. Through an evidence-based model, we work alongside local community members to build projects that tangibly improve lives in Honduras, Nicaragua and Ghana. Volunteers work with local masons and families to build eco-stoves, latrines, concrete floors, showers, and/or water storage units. To ensure long-term sustainability and maintenance, the Public Health program team trains and empowers local community leaders in the formation of a Basic Sanitation Committee. We work with communities to build community-owned banks to provide access to loans, savings accounts and financial literacy for community members. South Brunswick High School aims to improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under resourced communities abroad. Our Squad travels abroad to conduct mobile health clinics for children that include primary health care and vision and dental screenings. We also learn about and address some of the systemic issues behind preventable diseases in the community by implementing health workshops and building handwashing stations alongside local students. Microfinance Brigades at the University of San Francisco Global Brigades USA

Microfinance Brigades is a discipline of Global Brigades, the world\'s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The USF chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. Microfinance is the provision of financial services to low-income clients (in our case those in poverty), including consumers and the self-employed, who traditionally lack access to banking and related services. During the course of this Microfinance Brigade, we will empower communities and help low income Hondurans with opportunities to obtain low interest loans to invest in their farms or alternative income generating opportunities. Additionally, we will facilitate real micro lending transactions through community banks and microfinance institutions.
