Jumping Drags
Dear friends, I\'m in a group of 19 people going to Panama with a Global Brigades team. Global Brigades is an organisation with 4 main sites around the world and aim to improve basic home infrastructure and providing health education to help reduce the incidences of life-threatening, but preventable, diseases in a rural community. We\'re going to be working side-by-side with community members and local masons to construct four infrastructure projects meant to improve the health of the home and surrounding environment: eco-stoves, latrines, pilas (water storage units), and concrete floors. Additionally we\'re getting the chance to organise and run workshops to educate people on hygiene and sanitation. The money we\'re fundraising for will cover building materials, training, accommodation etc and to do this... I will be plummeting 300 feet (and six inches) off the ground. I will also be doing this in a dress, heels and wig (if I can convince them it\'s securely fastened to my head *brings out hot glue gun*). Her name will be Coco D\'Amol...figure it out. There will be a video, there may be tears, there may be use of sedatives. Any donations, however small, would be really appreciated. Any additional anxiety support will not go unnoticed! Thanks, Coco x

Global Brigades Exchange Arizona 2014
This Spring, brigaders from every region in the United States, Canada, and the UK will gather to discuss issues ranging from fundraising and recruiting to global health and economic development. This is a chance for brigaders to learn from others, share best practices and create a common vision to provide effective and sustainable development solutions in our communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana. Each exchange will have 50-100 students from around our region for great discussion, informational sharing, networking and free food! This year, The University of Arizona is excited to host one of the Global Brigades Exchanges on Saturday, February 15th and you are cordially invited to attend! This event is open to all Global Brigades members! Attendance is free for all Global Brigades members and all you have to do is register! Questions? Washington University Human Rights Brigade
The mission of the Human Rights brigade is to empower individuals living in rural Panama who have limited or no access to legal education or resources. This access is vital, as information on the local legal system supports community members as they work to settle civil and property disputes. While on the Human Rights Brigade, my team and I will be partnering with local attorneys to provide legal education workshops, and will be working with high school students as they develop their understandings of debate and argumentation. To ensure that this work has sustainable impact, the Global Brigades in-country staff will continue to secure legal outcomes and follow up on the work my team and other brigade groups do with this community. My hope is that by participating in the Human Rights Brigade, I will be able to work in partnership with a Panamanian community to provide greater access to legal education. I am also incredibly excited to meaningfully engage with this community, as I am certain they will teach me much about what thoughtful community involvement looks like. Thank you so much for your support (both emotional and/or financial), and I appreciate any contribution that you would like to make to my project. With appreciation and gratitude, Tiffini
